Short answer: one full 1ml dropper, twice a day — morning and evening. Under the tongue, or stirred into water, juice or tea. Shake the bottle first. Ten seconds, and that is the whole routine.
The longer answer is about consistency, timing and what is reasonable to expect, because that is where most people go wrong with any daily supplement.
The dose
A full dropper is 1ml. Take it twice daily — once in the morning, once in the evening. A 60ml bottle therefore holds 60 servings, which is a 30-day supply at two a day.
Squeeze the bulb, let the pipette fill to the line, and take it. Do not exceed the stated dose. More is not better with botanical extracts, and the daily amount is set where it is for a reason.
Under the tongue, or in a drink?
Either works. The difference is taste and habit, not effectiveness.
- Under the tongue — hold it there for a few seconds before swallowing. Fastest, and the one most people settle on once they are used to the flavour.
- In water, juice or tea — stir it into whatever you are already drinking. If you find herbal tinctures sharp, this is the gentler route.
Havern's drops are alcohol-free, in a vegetable glycerine base, so they are mildly sweet with a lemon finish rather than the harsh alcohol bite that puts people off traditional tinctures. Hot drinks are fine.
When to take them
Morning and evening, roughly twelve hours apart. Beyond that, the timing that matters most is the timing you will actually stick to.
- Morning — beside the kettle, so it happens while the water boils.
- Evening — beside your toothbrush, so it happens whether or not you remembered.
If your legs and ankles feel heaviest by the end of the day, the evening dose is the one not to skip. If you notice it most in your face first thing, the bedtime dose is the one that matters.
With or without food?
Either. There is no requirement to take them with a meal, and no requirement to avoid one. Attaching the dose to something you already do daily is worth far more than optimising around meals.
How long before you notice anything?
Give it several weeks, and judge it at the end of a month rather than the end of a week.
Botanical supplements are not fast-acting and anyone telling you otherwise is selling you something. The honest framing is this: a 60ml bottle is 30 days, and 30 days is roughly the point at which you can look back and form a view. That is also why the 90-day pack exists — three months is a fairer test than three weeks.
Do you need to drink more water?
Drink normally. You do not need to force fluids to “help it work”, and drinking substantially more than you are thirsty for is not a good idea generally.
The thing that genuinely helps is movement. Your heart pumps blood; nothing pumps lymph. It moves when you move — walking, stairs, calf raises, standing up from the desk. A ten-minute walk does more for flow than another litre of water.
Can you take them with other supplements?
Generally yes — they are a food supplement, not a medicine. But if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking any prescribed medication, speak to your GP or pharmacist before starting. That applies to every herbal supplement, not just this one.
Storage
Somewhere cool and dark — a cupboard is fine, the fridge is unnecessary. Keep the cap on, keep it out of reach of young children, and shake before each use because botanical extracts settle. Havern bottles carry a three-year shelf life from manufacture.
The routine, in one line
Shake. One dropper. Morning and evening. Somewhere you will see it. Give it a month before you judge it.
Frequently asked questions
How many drops is one dose?
One full dropper — 1ml — not a count of individual drops. Fill the pipette to the line.
Can I take both doses at once?
Better not to. Twice daily spreads the intake across the day, which is how the serving is intended to work. Do not exceed the stated dose.
What if I miss a dose?
Take the next one as normal. Do not double up to catch up.
Do they taste unpleasant?
Havern's are alcohol-free in a vegetable glycerine base — mildly sweet with a lemon finish. In water they are barely noticeable.
Is there a best time of day?
Morning and evening, about twelve hours apart. If your symptoms are worst by evening, prioritise the evening dose; if worst on waking, prioritise the bedtime one.

Food supplement. Not a substitute for a varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle. Do not exceed the stated dose. Keep out of reach of young children. If pregnant, breastfeeding, or on medication, consult your GP before use.
